The Last Advertising Agency On Earth

Only Advertising people would predict the extinction of Advertising people, and that is why I work in Advertising.  We are so self-aware and are aware that others are aware of our self-awareness (it's kind of scary) and are threatened by anything that challenges our significance (the DVR is our friend, the DVR is our friend, the DVR is our friend).  Watching FITC's 'The Last Advertising Agency On Earth' video makes me think we should focus on staying relevant and producing meaningful ads instead of spending the last five years mourning the slow death of the traditional agency.

Same Blog, New Name

I decided today to change the name of my blog 'The Daily Zeny', because 1) I do not update my blog daily and 2) I am not a fan of false claims, so I give you the new and improved and very honest 'From A to Zeny'!  My blog covers many of my passions--advertising, hockey, eating and absurdity--so the diversity and necessity of the alphabet seemed fitting.  Sadly by changing my blog name, I have lost all past comments (I was not aware that this would happen--I wish I saved that one comment from the Canadian who called my friend ignorant because he was American).

I appreciate all the comments and support I have received on my blog and am excited for future posts! I found some old photos while being home in Hawaii, and below is proof that very little about me changes, so I hope you will continue to visit the blog!

Dunkin' Donuts: The Biggest Letdown of Spring

There is only one day in the year which I will drink coffee and that day is the first day of Spring when Dunkin' Donuts gives out FREE ICED COFFEE.  This spring freebie has gone on for at least the past three years, because I remember drinking my first Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee Sophomore year (still decked in winter gear) in Kenmore Square.  Turns out, I may not get my caffeine fix after all this Saturday.  Dunkin' Donuts announced that it will not be giving out Free Iced Coffees in March in a press release on their site:

"Dunkin' Donuts Free Iced Coffee Day is not taking place in March this year.  Stayed tuned for our new Free Iced Coffee date!"
WHAT?!  How can a brand, a national food chain that has claimed association to a very significant day in the year give up that association?  It is like asking Subway to raise its footlong prices to $6.  You can't abandon your claim.  Okay, it may be a recession, but Dunkin' Donuts could have gained some serious foot traffic this weekend if it stayed true to its Spring ritual.  I probably would have bought myself a box of munchkins (maybe its a good thing I'm not going)!!

At least I have playoff hockey, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and floral dresses to look foward to this Spring.

Be A Brit This Spring, LIBERTY of London For TARGET

There is no doubt that London department store Liberty of London is one of the most unique and exquisite department stores in the world.  Liberty of London's Tudor-themed interior and signature floral prints makes me believe this is where Kings and Queens shopped for clothes and housewares, but now common people like you and me can purchase Liberty designs at Target!  In 7 days, Liberty of London is launching a Target line, and if you live in New York you can preview the collection this week near Bryant Park:
You can also preview the collection online and download mobile and desktop wallpapers.
I interned across the street from Liberty's in Oxford Circus and often had to pick up flower arrangements from the Liberty flower store.  This place is so classy that they refused to add baby's breath to their arrangements.  On my last day, I received a Liberty Gift Certificate (shaped as a medieval coin) as a thank you gift.  There were so many things I wanted from the store but could not afford, so I ended up with a Shu Uemura eye lash curler and color pencils.

Xtranormal Is Genius For Making Genius Videos Easy

Xtranormal, a site that lets you quickly create videos by simply providing text dialogue and plugging it into a set scene, has made me jump in my seat with excitement (a feeling I have not felt since that US/Canada game (the one we won)).  THIS SITE IS AWESOME.  I don't want to ruin it with words, so check it out for your self and if you work in digital display media, watch this video and you'll know why Xtranormal may be the new You Tube.
